Why not relax and give your feet a treat at the end of a busy day in these slippers? They are easy to crochet and make wonderful gift or bazaar items. The model was made from Lily Mills Cotton Rug Yarn, 2 skeins of red and 1 ½ skeins cream or any desired colors. Use a number H-6 aluminum crochet hook. Work tightly for a good fitting slipper. You need one pair if inner soles and a small piece of round elastic.

  • Sl st (slip stitch)
Sole – Measure length of foot. With red make a ch 2 inches shorter than measurement, sk 1 ch, 2 sc in next st, sc in each st to center of ch, hdc (to make hdc: thread over, insert hook in st, draw thread through – 3 lps on hook, thread over and pull through all lps on hook) in each of next 4 sts, dc to 5th ch from end, 2 dc in next ch, hdc in each of next 2 ch, 5 sc in end ch. On other side of ch, hdc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in each st opposite dc on other side, hdc in each of next 4 sts, sc to end.

Do not join rnds. 3 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next dc and continue with 4 rows of sc around. Inc 3 sc around toe in each rnd, with 2 sc between incs. Inc 3 sc around heel in each rnd, with 1 sc between incs. End rnd 5 with 1 sl st and fasten off. Make a second (top) sole in cream. Cut 1 inner sole slightly smaller than sole pieces. With soles back-to-back, inner sole between and sew together with red through 1 lp of each sc on edge.

Heel Lift – With red, ch 8, sk 1 ch, sc in each of next 6 ch, 3 sc in end ch, sc in each of next 6 sts on other side of ch. ( Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc around, making 3 incs around curve with 1 sc between incs ) 4 times. Then work sc in end of each row across straight side. Fasten off. Make 2. Sew together back-to-back, then sew lift on heel end of bottom (red) sole through remaining lps of sc on edge of each.

Make second sole. Steam and press soles dry through a doubled cloth.

Top – Front: With red, ch 34, sk 1 ch, sc in each of 33 ch.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 7 sc, hdc each of next 2 sc, dc in each of next 2 sc, ( holding back the last lp of each dc on hook make dc in next 2 sc, thread over and draw through all lps for a 2-dc dec) twice, (dc in each of next 3 sc) made into a cluster-dec, ( dc in each of next 2 sc made into a dec ) twice, dc in each of next 2 sc, hdc in each of next 2 sc, sc in remaining 7 sc.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 5 sc, hdc in each of next 2 sts, dc in each of next 2 sts, (dc in each of next 2 sts) made into a dec, (dc in each of next 5 sts) made into a dec, (dc in each of next 2 sts) made into a dec, dc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in each of next 2 sts 2 sts, sc in remaining 5 sc.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn and working in same way make 2 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2-dc dec, 5-dc dec, 2-dc dec, 2 dc, 2 hdc and 2 sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 2-dc dec, 3-dc dec, 2-dc dec, 1 dc, 2 hdc and 1 sc.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 10dc dec, 3-dc dec, 2-dc dec, 1 hdc and 1 sc.

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, sk first sc, sc in next st, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in end st. Fasten off.

Edge – Join cream to top right corner, 2 sc between next 2 rows, ( 2 sc between next second and third rows) twice, 2 sc in first sc in last row, sk 1 dc, 2 sc in each of next 3 dc, sk 1 dc, 2 sc in next sc, (2 sc between next second and third rows) 3 times, sc in corner st, sl st in each st around to starting corner join and cut with 20 inch sewing end. Mark center st at toe of sole, then mark next 17th st on each side. Pin corners of toe piece to these 2 side marks. Sew toe piece to sole with cream through 1 lp of each st.

Flower- with cream, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook, join to back lp of fist sc.

Rnd 2: (Ch 2, dc in same sc, ch 2, sl st in back lp of next sc) 6 times. Cut with sewing end and sew on toe piece 1 ¼ inches from top edge.

Slides: Count sts from toe piece around back of sole. With red make a ch of same number of sts plus one. Sk first ch, sc in each of next 15 ch, hdc in each of next 4 ch, make dc to 20th st from other end, hdc in each of next 4 ch, sc in remaining 15 ch.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. Fasten off.

Row 3: Turn, join cream to first sc, (sc in next sc, a long sc over next sc inserting hook at base of sc in row below) repeated across. Sl st in end st. Fasten off.

Row 4: Without turning, join red and make sc in back lp of each sc across.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn and working in both lps again, sc in first 15 sc, hdc in each of next 4 sc, dc in each st around to 29th st from other end making two 2-dc decs around back of heel. Hdc in 4 sc, sc remaining 15 sc. Fasten off.

Row 6: Turn, join cream to first sc and working over elastic, 2 sc in next sc, (sk 1 st, 3 sc in next st) repeated around. Sl st in end st. Fasten off. Lap ends under top edge of toe piece, sew together, then sew bottom edge to sole, using cream. Pull elastic fit and fasten ends.

Make other slipper in same way.
