This lovely doily measures about 14 ½ inches when made with number 30 crochet cotton and using a number 14 steel crochet hook. You will need one 350 yard ball of number 30 crochet cotton in the color of your choice and a number 14 steel crochet hook. A heavier thread and larger crochet hook will make a larger doily.

Make Your Own Toilet Soap

Pour one box of lye into three pints of cold water. When the water is lukewarm, pour into 5 ½ pounds clean, strained, lukewarm fat, slowly stirring all of the time. Add 4 heaping tablespoons borax, 2 cups oatmeal which has been put through the food chopper, 2 ounces glycerine, 4 to 5 tablespoons of any desired perfume, toilet water or cologne.
Stir 15 minutes. Use a long paddle so the splashes will not burn the hands. Pour into shallow pans. When hard enough to cut without running together cut into cakes. It will harden and dry out.
